COURT ORDERED COMMUNITY SERVICE

If you are serving court-ordered community service hours, our program accepts minor traffic violations such as speeding, DUI’s, etc.

requirements: 

  • You must be at least 18 years of age. 

  • You must provide the court documentation stating the offense.

  • You must provide a photo ID and complete the application.

  • You must complete a shift at least once every week.  

available shifts:

  1. Cleaning and sanitizing of dog kennels

    • every day of the week 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

  2. Janitorial work in our lobby and bathrooms during the last hour of the day:

    • Monday - Friday 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

    • Saturday & Sunday, 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. How will I be scheduled?

    You can sign up for shifts from home as you are available, and there is room in the schedule.  Please remember that you must schedule and come in for at least one shift every week.

  2. What will I be doing if I come in the morning for kennel cleaning?

    You will be clearing out, hosing down, sanitizing, scrubbing, and drying kennels following the shelter guidelines.  It is a strenuous and wet process!

  3. Can I visit with the animals for my hours?

    No, you will not have any direct interaction with our animals.  But if you would like to join our volunteer program once your court-ordered hours are completed, you are welcome to do so.

  4. What will I do if I come at the end of the day?

    You will clean the bathrooms (sinks, toilets, mirrors, and floors), sweep and mop the floors of our lobby and multi-purpose room, and take out trash.

  5. Is there a limit to how many hours I can serve each week?

    You must come in at least once every week, but there is no limit to the number of hours/shifts you can serve each week. If there is room in the schedule, you can sign up and come in.

  6. I need a letter stating my hours were completed. Will you provide one for me?

    Yes, once you have completed your hours, please email volunteer@naperhumane.org and a signed letter will be provided on NAHS letterhead.
