My name is Ernie, but some call me Ernest. I am a very energetic, intelligent, sweet, cute, goofy, playful young lad. Having grown up in shelters, I am still learning how to be a dog in a human's world. I need someone who will understand me and help me acclimate to a home environment. I do best with a stable routine. An adopter with experience with high drive, energetic, large dogs would help me thrive! Some of my favorite things I love to do are going on long walks, exploring the world around me, chewing on food and toys, and lots of sniffing. Some of my favorite tricks are sit, down, and “let's go”. I do have a few dog friends at the shelter and might enjoy a dog brother or sister if they also enjoy playing. But, I am still learning how to interact and play with my dog friends. I would also prefer a family with teenage kids or adults only. I love to learn but will need to keep up with my training routine since I still have a lot to learn and experience once in a home.
